The Effect of Ethrel on Autumn - Fruit Ripening of Korean Hot Peppers


Abstract
Field trials on pre-frost Ethrel spray of field-drown Korean hot pepper plants were performed, and the experimental evidence was obtained with the following results;
1. An increase in the level of Ethrel treatment resuited in an increase in the red ripening effect on pepper fruits.
2. The Ethrel effect lasted not more than 15 days after the treatment, and this was especially true after September 25th having relatively low-temperature climate.
3. Ethrel spray for the enhancement of hot-pepper ripening against the frost-attack in Korea is advised to practice on about September 25th, that is, 15 days prior to the approximate first frost day of an area.
